Warranty Terms and Conditions
1. Workmanship Warranty
Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. warrants that all electrical work performed by its licensed electricians will be free from defects in workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of substantial completion, unless otherwise specified in writing.
If a defect in workmanship is identified during the warranty period, Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace the defective work at no additional cost to the customer.
2. Manufacturer’s Warranty
Materials, equipment, fixtures, devices, and components supplied and installed by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. are covered solely by the manufacturer’s warranty, if any. Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. does not provide any additional warranty on products beyond those offered by the manufacturer.
Any warranty claims relating to equipment or materials shall be subject to the manufacturer’s terms, conditions, limitations, and approval process.
3. Customer Responsibilities
The customer shall:
- Promptly notify Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. upon discovering any defect or issue that may be covered under this warranty.
- Provide reasonable access to the premises for inspection, testing, and warranty service.
- Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage after discovering a potential issue.
Failure to comply with these responsibilities may result in denial of warranty coverage.
4. Warranty Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, vandalism, accident, or unauthorized alterations.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Damage caused by fire, flood, lightning, power surges, storms, utility interruptions, or other events beyond the control of Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
- Damage caused by third-party equipment, appliances, devices, or systems not installed by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
- Existing electrical deficiencies, concealed conditions, or code violations that were not identified within the original scope of work.
- Cosmetic defects that do not affect the safety or functionality of the installation.
- Failures caused by improper operation or maintenance of installed equipment.
- Damage caused by rodents, insects, water intrusion, structural movement, or environmental conditions.
5. Voidance of Warranty
This warranty shall be immediately void if:
- Any person, contractor, electrician, technician, handyman, homeowner, or other party other than Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. performs, modifies, repairs, services, inspects, alters, or otherwise interferes with any portion of the electrical work covered by this warranty.
- The electrical system or equipment installed by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. is altered, relocated, expanded, or connected to by any person or company other than Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
- Unauthorized modifications are made to the installation after completion.
- The customer fails to provide Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. with the opportunity to inspect and correct any alleged defect before engaging another party.
For clarity, any work performed by another licensed electrician, contractor, technician, handyman, homeowner, or third party will immediately void this warranty unless prior written authorization has been obtained from Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
6. Limitation of Liability
The remedies described in this warranty are the customer’s sole and exclusive remedies.
Under no circumstances shall Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of use, business interruption, loss of profits, damage to equipment, damage to property, or loss of data arising from or relating to the work performed.
The total liability of Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. shall not exceed the original contract value paid for the work giving rise to the claim.
7. Transferability
This warranty is extended solely to the original customer for whom the work was performed and is non-transferable unless otherwise agreed to in writing by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
8. Warranty Service Procedure
To request warranty service, the customer must contact Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. and provide:
- Customer name and contact information
- Service address
- Date of installation or service
- Invoice number, if available
- Description of the issue
Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. will schedule an inspection within a reasonable period following receipt of the warranty request.
9. Warranty Inspection and Service Call Charges
Upon receiving a warranty claim, Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. may inspect the installation to determine whether the reported issue is covered under this warranty.
If the inspection determines that:
- The issue is not the result of a defect in workmanship by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.;
- The issue is excluded from warranty coverage;
- The warranty has been voided under these terms and conditions;
- No defect is found in the work performed by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.; or
- The issue is caused by customer equipment, appliances, utility service, third-party work, or other non-warrantable conditions;
the customer agrees to pay all applicable service call fees, diagnostic charges, labour costs, travel expenses, and material costs at Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.’s current rates.
By requesting warranty service, the customer acknowledges and agrees that warranty coverage is subject to inspection and verification by Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd.
Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. reserves the right to invoice the customer for any costs incurred in responding to a warranty claim that is determined to be non-warrantable.
A minimum service call charge applies to all non-warranty service visits, including warranty claims that are determined to be outside the scope of warranty coverage.
10. Governing Law
These Warranty Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada.
By accepting an estimate, quotation, work order, invoice, or permitting Copper & Opal Electrical Ltd. to perform work, the customer acknowledges and agrees to these Warranty Terms and Conditions.
